A camping tour through Austria and many beautiful northern provinces of Italy:
Trentino-Alto Adige, Lombardia, Piemonte, Liguria, Emilia Romagna,Veneto and Friuli
But first Julian and I startet in Austria visiting family in Salzburg and Carinthia (Turrach, Spittal/Drau)
Then we left Austria via Osttirol and the "Pustertal" along the beautiful Dolomiti mountains.
We had a reservation for a very nice camp in BOLZANO, but first we visited "Oberbozen - Renon" with the "Ritten-Seilbahn"from the railway station in the city centre of Bolzano.
After a short rest at the nice "Learning Camp Moosbauer", we visited the city centre of Bolzano with our bikes https://www.moosbauer.com/de
On the next morning we chose the scenic wine road via Eppan and Lago die Caltero (Kalter See) and then the highway further south towards LAGO Di GARDA
From RIVA we drove along the scenic, but challenging narrow road along the west coast - passing by the lime gardens of LIMONE and GARGNANO to reach our pre-booked camp in TOSCOLANO-MADERNO http://www.campingpromontorio.it/
There we spent 2 days relaxing on the beach, visiting the town of Maderno...

...and to make boot trip to MALCESINE and MONTE BALDO...https://funiviedelbaldo.it/de/

Gargnano
After a very nice first holiday week I had to say Good-bye to Julian at the railway station of VERONA as he left for his Interrail-Tour with his friends.
I continued my trip through Northern Italy alone and stayed 2 more days on Lago di Garda - but on the Eastern coast - on a nice and small campsite near TORRI DEL BENACO
Lago di Garda East Coast
camping in Torri del Benaco
Torri del Benaco historical centre
Bike trip to Parco de Virgilio near GARDA
Villa at Parco de Virgilio with lime garden
Caribic feelings during a Stand Up Paddle tour along the East coast of Lago di Garda
After a heavy thunderstorm night I finally left beautiful Lago di Garda with a short visit at SIRMIONE (I made the wise decision to park my bus at a supermarket and visit the peninsula of Sirmione by bike - avoiding the chaotic traffic jam there).
About 1 hour drive to the west I reached my next tour-stopp: beautiful LAGO D 'ISEO
From the campsite "Quai" near the main town ISEO I made several excursion with my SUP and bike.
My first trip was with the small ferry boat and my bike to the beutiful island Monte Isola (the largest inhabited sweet water lake island in Europe). There are no cars allowed on the island and its 9km long ring road.
dried fish in Pesciera Maraglio - Monte Isola
In the evenings I enjoyed my AperolSpritz in ISEO
My second excursion was a 65km long bike trip around the lake - "Giro del Lago d'Iseo"
...starting anti-clockwise along the south-west coast
then passing by Riva del Solto, then along the windy main road with rock-tunnels....
swim-stopp at the beautiful narrow rock bay "Bögn"winding road along the cliffs towards the north coast to LOVERE
Lovere
On the east coast there was a beautiful and professional bike route on the old narrow road until Vello
In Vello I made another swim-stopp (and was unfortunately bitten by a wasp) before I finished my tour back in Iseo.
After 3 beautiful days at Lago d'Iseo, I packed my stuff to head on further west towards Milano.
On the way I made a stopp at BERGAMO to visit Bergamo Alta (by foot and with a funiculare).
I reached MILANO around lunch time and first parked my bus at the "Camping village Citta di Milano" in a western suburb near the Aquapark. After a short break I soon took the bus and the metro line to visit the city centre.
First I visited the DuomoGaleria Umberto
Castello Sforzesco
Aperol-Spritz (menue ;-) near the "fashion quarter"
As the campesite was not so nice (strange atmosphere) and the heat too much for city sightseeing, I decided on the next morning to head south to the Ligurian Coast near Genua. The way there was quite challenging along the narrow, winding A7 "highway" ;-P
I had a pre-booked camp near (= above) the pittoreque village BOGLIASO
https://www.camping-genova-est.it/ path down from the camp to the village
beaches and coast line of Bogliasco
evenings in Bogliasco
I on the 2nd day in Bogliasco I visited GENUA with the train
narrow streets and gallerias near the harbourAfter a nice morning in Genua I took the (pre-booked) "Golfo Paradiso" tourist boat to visit the coast and PORTOFINO
We passed by beautiful seaside villages: Nervi, Bogliasco, Recco and Camogli...
..and the Santuario Fruttuoso
and reached PORTOFINO after about 1h on the boat. I had 1,5h to walk around Portofino and to visit the castello
In the early evening I took the boat back to Genua. I took the directest way to the train station (through the "dangerous" quarters) and then a train to Nervi and a bus back to Bogliasco.
I spent one more day on the wild rock beach west of Bogliasco before I packed my stuff again to hit the road. I drove along the coast until RECCO and then along the coastal highway A12 with lots of tunnels and bridges until LA SPEZIA/Lerici
There are only a few camps on the steep Ligurian coast and I had bad luck on the first camp near Lerici...but soon I found a much nicer garden like camp (Camp Gianna) near TELLARO.
https://www.campeggiogianna.com/de my VIP pitch with an amazing view
I the evening I walked down to the "borgo piu bello" and my new favorite village (and home of "Tony the Octopus") TELLARO
I stayed 4 days at this beautiful, romantic spot and made some day trips from the main town LERICI...
by bus, train and cruise boat to PORTO VENERE
and to LA SPEZIA
But then it was time to say Good-bye to the Ligurian Coast to slowly start my way back home :-(
I took the winding highway A15 over the mountains to Parma and then continued via Bologna, Ferrara and Rovigo towards the Adriatic Sea.
I had a reservation for a camp in CHIOGGIA (small sister of Venezia, in the Lagoon between Venezia and the Po Delta).
One more nice afternoon at the beach and an nice evening with wonderful Italian dinner in the old town centre.

Important culinaric souvenirs ;-)
